Cavity repair

Cavities

The cavity must be intercepted while it is in its early stages, before it destroys the tooth and must be removed. We use white restorations (fillings) to repair cavities. Note that very often cavities do not hurt and therefore regular dental examinations must be done in order to intercept them on x-rays.

It is well known that sugar consumption often plays a role in the creation of cavities. We invite you to listen to this short video in which Dr Benko explains the process of caries development.

Many other reasons may be involved in the formation of dental caries. It is important to have regular follow-up
with your dental hygienist and dentist to detect cavities while they are still at a minor stage of development. At the clinic, we are perfectly able to help you achieve a beautiful smile and a healthy mouth!

Stage 1

Cavities do not cause pain in the patient and can be repaired without anaesthesia.

Stage 2

The patient feels a sensitivity to sweet/cold/warmth as the second layer of the tooth, the dentin, is affected. You have to anesthetize the tooth to treat it.

Stage 3

The patient feels pain because the cavity has reached the pulp. The survival of the tooth is compromised and root canal treatment is necessary.
